Steven Seagal may be well passed being an A-lister but we were pretty psyched when we were hired to do the pipeline and finishing for his pulpy action thriller Force of Execution.
As happens when a shop takes on a job, one thing led to another and I was asked to direct a behind the scenes film for Force of Execution. Now, I could take or leave Mr. Seagal but as far as I'm concerned Ving Rames and Danny Trejo are '90's grunge cinema royalty and I jumped at the opportunity to interview them and be a fly on the wall of some of the grittiest fight scenes this side of an MMA grudge match. And , it should be said, Aussie Bren Foster was as good as they come in the mixed martial arts leading man arena and a consummate professional.
My small doc crew and I ran around the often chaotic sets with our REDs kitted out for run n' gun, capturing the essence of a low-budget martial arts action film, warts and all.
We came out of the project with a series of rocking behind the scenes films that the team and producers were really psyched about.
